What is the process of paver restoration?
Our process begins with a conversation. We listen to your goals, answer your questions, and address your concerns. We’ll also share our experienced perspective and then collaborate with you to develop a plan.
Once the scope of work has been defined and the work has been scheduled, the physical work begins with releveling uneven or improperly sloped areas with expert precision. We’ll also replace damaged pavers and edge restraints, if needed.
Next, we thoroughly clean the paver surfaces and carefully remove material from the paver joints without disturbing the bedding material (the layer directly beneath the pavers).
This is followed by installing polymeric sand in the paver joints and applying a sealer to the paver surfaces. We use premium-grade products and employ time-tested methods that are considered best practices in the industry.

Why should I relevel my pavers?
Uneven pavers can contribute to trips and falls, especially in places where your guests may not be expecting a sudden change in the surface they’re walking on or the steps they’re navigating. Additionally, ice is more likely to form in areas that do not drain properly.

-
How long does paver releveling last?
In our experience, most of the paver settlement process occurs within five to 10 years of the initial installation. This is due to the underlying soils consolidating after being disturbed by construction activity.
After that initial 10-year period, we typically see little to no continued settlement. When this is the case, we are confident that our releveling work is a long-term (five years or more) solution, provided there are no recurring or ongoing issues causing the pavers to settle.
From paver cleaning to paver releveling, Blackstone Inc provides a range of quality services. Contact us to learn more!
-
What is polymeric sand, and why should I use it in my pavers?
Polymeric sand is an engineered sand that hardens after it’s been activated. In our experience, it will adhere to the pavers and remain firmly in place for many years when installed properly. This will help prevent weeds, ants, and erosion in the paver joints.

How long does polymeric sand last?
Per our experts, polymeric sand can last more than 10 years when properly installed and maintained. However, there are a few things that can lead to premature failure.

-
Why should I seal my pavers?
Pavers are porous and therefore will absorb water, chemicals, and organic material. A sealer will protect the pavers from deterioration and stains by greatly reducing their capacity to absorb. Some sealers also provide UV protection to slow the rate of color fading.
From paver cleaning to driveway repairs, our team is here to help. Get in touch with us today!
-
How often should I seal my pavers?
Per our crew of experts, most sealers should be reapplied every two to four years when exposed to our Minnesota climate. Since there are many variables that factor into the longevity of a sealer, this range does not apply to all sealers or all situations.
